Longi-Taormina Unit is structurally under Fondachelli Unit that is under Alì Unit. Longi Taormina Unit and Fondachelli Unit don’t show alpine overprint metamorphism. Longi-Taormina Unit is formed by Upper Subunit, Middle Subunit and Lower Subunit. These Subunits are formed by a Variscan low-grade metamorphic basement and a Mesozoic-Cenozoic sedimentary cover. The stacking of Longi Taormina and Fondachelli Units is post metamorphic (post D2; Aquitanian-early Burdigalian age).
